Dean Kerstetter – Executive Vice President, Operations – Mendocino Family of Companies, 14 years with the company.
Responsible for the company’s lumber production including sawmills, fence plant, treating plants, distribution centers, and a 25 MW combined heat & power (CHP) plant.
Our CHP Plant located in Scotia, CA converts 90% of the Scotia sawmill’s byproducts into energy for both internal and external consumption. Additionally, this plant produces 200 CYs of BioChar / day which is sold commercially.
In 2021 Mendocino hired ICF to assist with a techno-feasibility study exploring better higher value uses for our Ukiah sawmill’s byproducts and are currently in an FEL-2 process for a phased project incorporating a Biomass CHP plant as well as a secondary process for producing gas such as Hydrogen and / or Biochar.
